Basingstoke Hockey Club has very close links with the local schools and run training sessions for children from 5 to 14 every weekend through term-time. We have a fantastic Junior membership and always welcome new young members to come and try hockey out with us. In fact we have a number of hockey ‘families’!
Here are the timings for our training this season. Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your session begins.

| Sundays | Arrive 8:50 for 9:00 – 10:30 Under 12’s (year 5, 6 and 7s, aged 10 and 11) |
| Sundays | Arrive 10:15 for 10:30 – 12:00 Under 14’s (year 7 to year 9, aged 12 and 13) |
Mandatory – we won’t let your child play unless they wear one – it’s simply too critical. You can buy one from a sports shop or from a dentist.

If you are just trying out then use one of our sticks – we have plenty of spares which you can collect at the beginning of the session. If you are going to buy one then our recommendation for stick length is that the top of the stick be about level with the hip. In other words, the length of the stick (usually measured in inches still) is the height of the child’s hips.

All our junior teams are provided with shirts to wear for matches and tournaments. If you want to buy a shirt for your child to keep, you can do so through our kit provider. Please ensure the inside of the shirt is labelled with their name. If your child moves through the age groups and starts playing adult hockey, they will need a numbered shirt of their own.
